The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held the 17th Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Soccer Match at HKU’s Stanley Ho Sports Centre today (19 May). Professor Ian Holliday, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) of HKU, and Professor Anthony T.C. Chan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Alumni Relations & Advancement) of CUHK, officiated at the kick-off ceremony.

After a fiercely contested match, HKU won by 2:0.

The Vice-Chancellors’ Cup Soccer Match was first played in 2003 to commemorate the collaboration of the two universities during SARS. Since then, it has become an annual sports event that aims to deepen the friendship between the two universities. Including today’s game, CUHK has won 11 games, HKU has won two, and the teams have drawn four times.
